A. Two (2) or more episodes satisfying criteria B and C A. Five (5) or more episodes satisfying criteria B–D
B. One (1) or more of the following aura symptoms:
  • Visual
  • Sensory
  • Speech or language
  • Motor
  • Brainstem
  • Retinal
B. Untreated or insufficiently treated headache lasting 4 to 72 hours
C. Three (3) or more of the following episode characteristics:
  • One (1) or more of criteria B aura symptoms that spreads over 5 minutes
  • Two (2) or more of criteria B aura symptoms occurring in series
  • Each criteria B aura symptom lasting five (5) to sixty (60) minutes
  • One or more criteria B aura symptom is unilateral
  • One or more criteria B aura symptom is positive
  • Aura is followed or accompanied by headache within sixty (60) minutes
C. Two (2) or more of the following episode characteristics:
  • Unilateral
  • Pulsating
  • Headache pain of moderate to severe intensity
  • Routine physical activities aggravate or cause avoidance
D. Not due to another International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-3) diagnosis D. One (1) or more symptoms during headache:
  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Photophobia
  • Phonophobia
E. Not due to another International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-3) diagnosis
